About Us

Sun Rose Children's Therapy

My Story

Welcome to SunRose Children's Therapy, where I, Golnaz Behgoo, am committed to delivering specialised therapeutic services for children, families, and their support systems. Drawing upon 15 years of experience as a Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist, I actively engage with families navigating various concerns and difficulties.

My personal journey has been shaped by witnessing the impact of adverse childhood experiences within homes, schools, and neighborhoods on myself, my siblings, and my peers. This firsthand experience fuels my passion to make a positive difference in the lives of those facing challenges.

My professional path has taken diverse turns. At 18, I immersed myself in the world of chemical engineering, dedicating six years to the field. However, in my late twenties, I made a transformative decision. Liberated from family and societal pressures upon moving to Australia, I felt empowered to pursue what was closer to my heart—transitioning to social work. This marked the beginning of my commitment to making a positive impact on children and familie’s lives.

In my mid-thirties, after working with families in various settings, I embraced a new role as a Registered Play Therapist. Choosing to work therapeutically with children and families was a natural progression, driven by my love for seeing myself as a big child in many ways. I find endless joy in watching a delightful movie repeatedly, immersing my hands in the sand, or creating spontaneous scribbles—connecting deeply with the innocence and creativity inherent in childhood.

In addition to our commitment to delivering therapeutic services to children I am passionate and specialised in offering support for children with ADHD.

SunRose Children's Therapy is founded upon my passion to contribute positively to individuals' lives. Don't hesitate to reach out— send an email so we can have a chat and see if I can assist your child or your family.

“We have been seeing Golnaz weekly for 4 years. She has built a wonderful relationship with our son Rocky and our family. We have seen such great progress.

Golnaz has been such an asset to our team helping Rocky build on his skills and communication through play.Play therapy with Golnaz is by far Rocky’s favourite therapy and lights up when Golnaz arrives with her box of games and activities.

It’s been an absolute joy to see our son Rocky blossom and learn through play with Golnaz.”

I am a Registered Child Play Therapist at Sun Rose Children’s Therapy, offering children’s therapy and play therapy. With over eight years of experience across early childhood and therapeutic settings, I bring steadiness, clinical insight, and cultural sensitivity to my work. I find deep joy and meaning in supporting young lives and consider it a privilege to walk alongside children and their caregivers through seasons of growth and challenge.

I approach each child with genuine curiosity, respect, andprofessional care, recognising that every child’s inner world is unique. My work is grounded in a neuro affirming and developmentally responsive framework, supporting children experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, separation concerns, behavioural challenges, or neurodiversity-related differences.

Families often describe my therapeutic style as warm, perceptive, and quietly contained. I offer a thoughtfully attuned therapeutic space where children feel secure enough to express themselves freely through play, and where parents feel supported, understood, and gently guided throughout the process.

I speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, and welcome families who feel more comfortable communicating in their home language. I understand the profound role cultural context plays in children’s emotional development and value working collaboratively with families from diverse backgrounds.
